Milton Reynolds (1892–1976), an American entrepreneur was born in Minnesota. He is most famously known for the manufacture and introduction of the first ball point pen to be sold in the U.S. market in October 1945. On October 29, 1945, the first Reynolds pen debuted at the 32nd Street store on the morning of October 29, 1945. The day the pen went on sale, an estimated 5,000 shoppers stormed the shop, and approximately 50 NYPD officers had to be dispatched for crowd control.
