Company Description
Since Its Establishment in 1953, Fukoku has built a strong foundation through research and development and the accumulation of technical expertise. This commitment demonstrate a determination to seek out and meet new challenge. With a technology proven consistent over many years, Fukoku's annual production of wiper blade rubbers now exceeds 200 million. We have an overwhelming share in the domestic market for genuine products (OEM) and about 40% of the international market, making us the No.1 producer worldwide in both quality and quantity. Our seals are used in automotive brake systems and fuel systems, as well as air intake and exhaust systems, and have captured a large share of the market. We are also developing seals for industrial applications, such as pneumatic tools and industrial machinery. Using composite technologies for the bonding of rubber and metal, for example, we have developed anti-vibration products to reduce automotive vibration and noise. These anti-vibration products have contributed to a broad range of industries including the automotive, railroad, and construction machinery industries. We are also engaged in other areas, such as ultrasonic motors, where the potential for applications continues to increase. Eichi Kawamoto, the founder of Fukoku, single-handedly started up Fukoku Rubber Industry Co., Ltd. in 1953. By 1956 Fukoku had already succeeded in developing a rubber surface treatment for wiper blades to reduce friction as a result of its sales work with automobile manufacturers. Riding the wave of motorization at the time, the company grew rapidly and took its first step into the international market. Now, more than half a century later, the Golden Ratio represented by Fukoku's trademark “Φ” has become its motto. Fukoku has kept an eye to the future with a focus on maintaining balance among quality, cost, and delivery, as well as sales, technology, and production. Obsessed with achieving reliability, Fukoku has cultivated its technological expertise under severe conditions, accumulating many achievements over the years under its corporate slogan (currently Corporate Spirit) “Yes We Do!” After being listed on the second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in March 2004, we received approval from the Tokyo Stock Exchange to be listed on the first section in March 2005, only one year later. To build the framework for a new era, we strengthened manufacturing competitiveness by upgrading our facilities in China and the U.S. Quality has been an area of core significance to our operations. We acquired certification for the international standard ISO 9001, which requires a strict level of quality management. Every aspect of our operations from material development to the production, packaging and marketing, we ensure the highest standards of quality at all stages and provide our customers with products that meet their expectations in terms of quality and performance.
