The Delhi Jal Board was constituted on 6th April, 1998 through an Act of the Delhi Legislative Assembly incorporating the previous Delhi Water Supply and Sewage Disposal Undertaking. The Delhi Jal Board is responsible for the Production and Distribution of potable water after treating raw water from various sources like river Yamuna, Bhakhra Storage, Upper Ganga Canal & Groundwater and also provides treatment and disposal of waste water. The Delhi Jal Board provides water in bulk to the NDMC and Cantonment areas. Sewage from these areas is also collected for treatment and disposal by the Delhi Jal Board.
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) constituted under the Delhi Jal Board Act, 1998, is responsible for the production and distribution of drinking water as also for collection, treatment and disposal of domestic sewage in the Capital.
DJB launched the project of processed packaged drinking water with the brand Name “JAL” to make available purified drinking water in 20 Liters Jars and cartons of disposable glasses containing (24 X 250ml) glasses to serve the residents of Delhi. “JAL” certified by the bureau of Indian standard, vide License No CM/L 8500666 is put through stringent purification techniques to ensure that the consumers are provided with a hygienic and quality product.
Government Departments, Corporate offices, Resident Welfare associations, societies and the people of Delhi may also contact the bottling plant at GK -1,opposite Sadiq Nagar, New Delhi 110048 (Contact No 29234924, 29234928 & 9650591677) for the supply of packaged drinking water in 20 Ltr. “JAL” and 250 ml disposable glasses, at the MRP approved by the Delhi Jal Board .
